At Miquella’s Haligtree, patrols of Haligtree soldiers provide high rune drops and are fairly easy to farm in co-op. One player can draw aggro while the other strikes from behind or uses area damage spells.

In one farming session, my co-op partner and I gained 15,000–20,000 runes per run. This method works best if you're already in NG+ or heavily leveled, and it makes a great mid-late game farming route for two players.
